A nickel mining company's debt of more than PHP6 Billion to the Philippine Government will soon be settled. The public sector's privatization management office, headed by Ms. Karen G. Singson, that now has the handle to the mining area received an offer of funds for the settlement of the debt of the nickel mining company.
Government is still being entangled by the original mining concessionaire by the mineral production sharing agreement it entered into with the Philippine Government, and the case is currently now with the Philippine Court.
This settlement will prove to be a boost to the effort of the Philippine Government to gradually reduce non-performing assets and recover lost resources from unpaid taxes, fees, charges and share from mineral production not only in Mindanao but also in other places in the country.
